August Tacoma Sister Cities Book Club will feature Revolution Sunday
The Tacoma Sister Cities Book Club will be meeting for our third book club event on Monday, August 19th at 6:30 PM. In August, we will be celebrating Tacoma’s long standing sister city relationship with Cienfuegos, Cuba by reading Revolution Sunday by famed Cuban author Wendy Guerra. Join us at King’s Books, located at 218 St. Helen’s Avenue in downtown Tacoma. There will also be some lovely snacks and beverages from the wonderful island nation of Cuba! “Cleo, scion of a once-prominent Cuban family and a promising young writer in her own right, travels to Spain to collect a prestigious award. There, Cuban expats view her with suspicion–assuming she’s an informant for the Castro regime. To Cleo’s surprise, that suspicion follows her home to Cuba, where she finds herself under constant surveillance by the government. When she meets and falls in love with a Hollywood filmmaker, she discovers her family is not who she thought they were . . . and neither is the filmmaker.”
